If you are a fan of miniature items, especially model houses and trains, this place is amazing! I’ll talk more about it in a bit.
Breakfast at Café Paris
Walk from Rathaus Train station to Café Paris. Sit in the beautiful space and enjoy a delicious meal to start your day.
Walk to Miniatur Wunderland (You will need at least 2 hours)
It takes 15 minutes to walk from Café Paris to Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg.
Based on what I remember from 2011, I had to walk upstairs to get my ticket before entering this magical place. It cost 13€ for people 16 and older and 6.50€ for children under 16.
Why is this place so amazing?
The details of the planes, trains, people, lights, basically everything is crafted so intricately and the proportion of size in comparison to each other seemed to be accurate.
There is a staff who controls the lighting where the whole place would change from day to night, and back into the day. That itself was such a cool feature. You can see that the buildings light up when it is night time and dim when daylight comes about.
Here are some pictures:
Can’t wait to explore Europe like I did? Get your Eurail pass today.
It’s not just like a museum where you just look around. You can follow the trains as they go all around the place and watch the planes as they move around.
It’s fun for both adults and children alike.
After walking around for about 2 hours, it was time to get some lunch.
Lunch at CARLS an der Elbphilharmonie
It takes about 7 minutes to walk there from Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg.
It’s pretty busy, but if you get to eat lunch there, the view of the Hamburg Harbour is refreshing.
You can just sit and watch the boats go by or even just relax with good food.
