I love garage sales. It’s like looking for treasure where you’ll never know what you will find at such an amazing price. If you don’t mind getting second-hand things, which I do not, thrifting might be a good idea for you.
This post isn’t about garage sale though, but definitely a thrifty find. This was an accidental find, on the side of the road, in my neighbourhood.

When M and I were driving home one day, we saw this framed art lying in the front of someone’s driveway – meaning that they are waiting to throw it out during garbage day.
We drove past it and saw that it was really nice. Mind you, M doesn’t like garage sales or thrifting, but it caught his eye too! We looked at each other and asked if the other person wants it. I had this twinkle in my eyes because it caught both our attention.
We drove back to inspect it and it was in pristine condition. The frame was good, the art was modern yet elegant, and both of us love it.
I didn’t realize that it was a picture of Amsterdam until I looked at it closely. I’ve been to Amsterdam so it’s pretty nice to have that in my home. It was a little worrisome that the size was too big. When we put it in our car, it fits perfectly.
Now, we have it in our house and have an interesting story to tell of how we acquire this beautiful and FREE art piece.

Later we found out that it’s from IKEA and regularly cost C$50.
