Here are the 5 types of books my 21 month old toddler loves:<\/span><\/h2>\n

In this list below, I will include different types of books with the examples that my daughter is currently reading. I encourage you to take a look and see what your child or grandchild or the toddler you’re buying for is interested in.<\/p>\n
If they are love a certain theme (animals or transportation), you can get books related to that.<\/p>\n
I highly recommend that you check out Amazon first, then a bookstore such as Chapters (in Canada). Be sure to check out Rakuten to get cashback for books and other items and an additional $5 when you spend $25 within 3 months of signing up.<\/p>\n
Also, just a note that we have different books in different areas in our home. So, she reads these books mentioned below throughout the day or even the week.<\/p>\n
1. Board books<\/span><\/h3>\n
First up are board books. My daughter and I love board books.<\/p>\n
They are not only baby friendly, but toddler friendly as well.<\/p>\n
The sturdiness of the board books can be very helpful when they accidentally spill water or touch the pages with their sticky hands.<\/p>\n
I bought her this set of board books by Dr. Suess<\/a>. She particularly loved the Hop on Pop<\/a> and the Shape of Me and Other Stuff.<\/a><\/p>\n
The smaller board books are easy for her to grip and also bring around.<\/p>\n
She received this ABC book<\/a> and it’s pretty cool because it’s Toronto theme. It’s one way that we’re teaching her about the alphabet and about Toronto at the same time. She especially loves the last page (Z for Zoo).<\/p>\n
There are other board books that she likes as well, I will include them in the points below.<\/p>\n
2. Interactive Books<\/span><\/h3>\n
There are many different types of interactive books from flap books to books with different textures, my toddler really loves exploring these books.<\/p>\n
Not all of these are board books which gives the toddler a variety to choose from.<\/p>\n
a. Flap Books<\/span><\/h4>\n
These flap books are the ones that allow the child to lift up and find something hidden underneath.<\/p>\n
The book that we have, Where is Baby’s Mommy,<\/a> is something that she really enjoys opening and closing back up.<\/p>\n
When she was younger, she was more interested in looking what’s underneath and tearing the flap.<\/p>\n
Yes, I had to tape the flap back a few times. Maybe if the flap was thicker, it would be harder for her to tear out.<\/p>\n
Now that she’s older, she seem to appreciate it more and want to read it over and over again.<\/p>\n
Check out other flap books on Amazon<\/a> as well to see what your kid will enjoy.<\/p>\n
b. Singing and Light-up Books<\/span><\/h4>\n
These books are the interactive, singing books with buttons to push. It’s fun for the toddler to play, but I’m not sure if they remember the words as much.<\/p>\n
I wanted to include these books because it’s a fun activity for her.<\/p>\n
One of the books we have is the Musical Rhymes book<\/a>. She likes to flip the pages and listen to the rhymes.<\/p>\n
With all the lights and sounds, it’ll be sure to keep your toddler entertain for a little while.<\/p>\n
c. Textured Books<\/span><\/h4>\n
These books are really fun. The ones we have are either cloth books or board books.<\/p>\n
The current favorite is the “Wild Animals<\/a>“.<\/p>\n
I would tell her that this is pretend so that she does not think it is okay to touch these wild animals.<\/p>\n
It was a gift to her from a friend of mine.<\/p>\n
When she is in the toddler stage, she really likes learning about animals and feeling the different textures.<\/p>\n
The other books are Discovery Farm Animals<\/a>, and Dance Bunny Dance<\/a>.<\/p>\n
These textured books are great for kids to explore and learn about the topic of the book as well.<\/p>\n
Do test out the books beforehand so that you know that it is not sharp to the toddler’s touch.<\/p>\n

3. Animal Books<\/span><\/h3>\n
My toddler loves animal theme books. Whether it is about an animal or has animals, she would point them out every time.<\/p>\n
As you might have noticed, there are a lot of books with the animals on this blog post.<\/p>\n
If your toddler prefers trucks over animals, definitely get books that he or she are interested in.<\/p>\n
Here are some of my daughter’s favorite animal books:<\/p>\n

- Frog in Space<\/a><\/li>\n
- The Very Cranky Bear<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
She would ask me to read these to her every night, without fail.<\/p>\n
Sometimes it can be so tiring to read the same books over and over again EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.<\/p>\n
I’ll look for other books to read to her so that there is a variety of books that she can listen to at night.<\/p>\n
4. Rhyming Books<\/span><\/h3>\n
My toddler loves rhyming books. Or maybe she just loves the books that so happen to rhyme.<\/p>\n
It’s pretty catchy, I’m not going to lie.<\/p>\n
Many of the books mentioned in this blog post are rhyming books. However, there are some books that stood out to me.<\/p>\n
My daughter, K, loves “The Very Cranky Bear<\/a>” as I mentioned earlier.<\/p>\n
She’ll ask for the jungle book, but really, it’s not about the jungle. You’ll have to get the book to find out what I’m talking about.<\/p>\n
I highly recommend for you to get this in the board book version and read it as dramatically as you can.<\/p>\n
The kids love it!<\/p>\n
Another book that she loves is the “Bunny Race<\/a>“.<\/p>\n
This is a new book that we started reading to her during lunch time (to get her to eat). She’s been enjoying it so far and likes to point out the different animals she sees in the book.<\/p>\n
5. Simple repetitive Books<\/span><\/h3>\n
I find that she is drawn to picking up books that have repetitive words or phrases.<\/p>\n
One of the books that she like is “Ten Tiny Toes<\/a>“. It’s a board book with simple and easy to remember words.<\/p>\n
Also, she can follow the actions in the book.<\/p>\n
This helps her to remember the different parts of the body.<\/p>\n
Another book that she likes is “Yuck! Stuck in the Muck!<\/a>“.<\/p>\n
This one is a surprise to me because it’s such a different books from the other ones that we have and yet she’ll ask for “Yuck!”<\/p>\n
The third book that she loves to listen to is “Caps for Sale<\/a>“.<\/p>\n
There is something about this book that she likes, maybe it’s the monkeys, or maybe it’s the repetition of different color caps.<\/p>\n
As I mentioned earlier, I did have to tape some pages back. #toddlermomlife<\/p>\n
