1. Stuffed Toys<\/span><\/h3>\n
A new type of toy that she recently started to love are stuffed toys.<\/p>\n
Your child might love it right at the beginning, but mine took some time.<\/p>\n
Now, she would hug them to sleep, bring them to the living room, sometimes even choose one to accompany her for her meals.<\/p>\n
Her favorite so far include teddy bears, hedgehog, and a bunny.<\/p>\n

You can also encourage your toddler to have creative play with these stuffed animals.<\/p>\n
Some ideas include:<\/p>\n

- \u00a0Having a tea party together<\/li>\n
- Singing songs and making the stuffed toy do the actions (for example: sleeping little bunnies)<\/li>\n
- Teaching the stuffed toys about colors, shapes, and the alphabets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
It’s interesting to see how toddlers play with the stuffed toy as they might sometimes mimic real life.<\/p>\n
My daughter bump her head once and I gave her an ice pack to put on her head. After she felt better, she grabbed one of her stuffed toy, came to me and said that it fell and also needed an ice pack.<\/p>\n
It was quite adorable!<\/p>\n

2. Kitchen toys and accessories<\/span><\/h3>\n
Another toy that she continued to be interested in playing with is the play kitchen and the cooking accessories.<\/p>\n
The play kitchen we have is from IKEA and the pots and pans are from Walmart (similar one here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\nMy toddler is very interested when we are preparing for our meals, especially when she gets to participate in the washing of rice and vegetables.<\/p>\n
With her cooking station, she’ll pretend to cook and wash the food in the sink similarly to us as adults.<\/p>\n
One thing that we might add to the IKEA kitchen is this pack of stickers<\/a> to make the play kitchen more realistic.<\/p>\n
If your child is interested in watching you prepare meals and want to participate, you can get them cooking toys and play food, and they can prepare a toy meal for you.<\/p>\n
That’ll be really fun.<\/p>\n
3. Outdoor toys<\/span><\/h3>\n
Recently, I bought these beach toys from Toysrus (Canada) and they came with these gigantic shovels, a rake, and giant sand molds (you can get beach toys online here<\/a>).<\/p>\n
I didn’t know what to do with them as I only needed the smaller size toys for my daughter to play with the indoor sand station we are preparing for her to play in the cold, winter months.<\/p>\n
However, when snow came, it was the perfect opportunity for my daughter to use them.<\/p>\n
She loves them.<\/p>\n
Though the snowy days were limited in November, she only got to play with them once. However, she always asks to take the toys outside to play.<\/p>\n
I think she’ll be really excited once the snow comes in December.<\/p>\n
If you think your child will enjoy playing outside with outdoor toys, here are some outdoor summer toys and outdoor winter toys.<\/p>\n
They might need you to model for them how to play with them at first, but they’ll learn quickly and have a blast!<\/p>\n
4. Water play<\/span><\/h3>\n
Water play is such an exciting thing for my toddler, even if her hands get cold after playing for a while.<\/p>\n
You can be very creative with setting up water play for your toddler.<\/p>\n
Choose where you want to have this play. It could be in the bathroom, in your kitchen, or outside. Just be sure to watch them at all times.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\nWater play can be as simple as having containers filled with water and a cup, or a water table.<\/p>\n
My daughter enjoys transferring water from one container to the other. Also, if we allow her to, she really likes to water the plants.<\/p>\n
However, with the winter approaching, we’ll have to keep the water play indoors.<\/p>\n

Depending on your toddler, water play can be a huge hit in your household. The setup is easy and they’ll have a lot of fun.<\/p>\n
5. Animal toys<\/span><\/h3>\n
There’s something about animals that children really like. Especially with animal toys, toddlers can spend a good amount of time just playing with them.<\/p>\n
Whether they are stuffed animals or just little animals, my daughter enjoys playing with them and making the sounds that the animals make.<\/p>\n
You can get a variety of animal toys online whether farm animals<\/a>, dinosaurs<\/a>, or even sharks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\nThere are so many creative ways to play with these animals including:<\/p>\n

- \u00a0Sensory play<\/li>\n
- Free play<\/li>\n
- Singing songs and making their sounds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
If your toddler shows interest in one specific animal,\u00a0 you can teach them more about it such as what it likes to eat, where you can (or cannot) find it in the world, and other interesting facts you find out about it online or at the library.<\/p>\n
6. Balls and Balloons<\/span><\/h3>\n
Balls and balloons are the toys that my toddler loves since she was a baby. There’s something about the ability to bounce it around and do lots of fun games with balls and balloons that excite her.<\/p>\n
There are so many ways to play with a ball\/balloon.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\nHere are some ideas:<\/p>\n

- \u00a0Passing the ball from one person to the other<\/li>\n
- Kicking the ball around<\/li>\n
- Bouncing the ball from one room to the other<\/li>\n
- Throwing a basketball into the net<\/li>\n
- Rolling the ball on the table into a cup.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

7. Musical toys<\/span><\/h3>\n
There are two types of musical toys that my toddler enjoys playing with.<\/p>\n
First are the musical instruments such as piano, shakers, drums, and recorder.<\/p>\n
She likes to press the piano keys randomly. Since the toy is part piano part xylophone (similar one here<\/a>), she just enjoys hitting the keys.<\/p>\n
As for the shakers (this is the set we have but we received as a gift<\/a>), my toddler enjoys shaking them while we sing a song together. I’ll try to shake to the beat and rhythm while she follows.<\/p>\n
My brother made a square drum so she really likes to hit it with the stick. You’ll have to watch your toddler as the stick can be a safety issue.<\/p>\n
Finally with the recorder (from the same set as the shakers<\/a>), she’s learning how to blow into it. There isn’t much either than that, but somehow she finds it very entertaining.<\/p>\n
The second type of musical toys she enjoys playing with are the ones that sing songs.<\/p>\n
We have this cube<\/a> and also this ABC backpack<\/a> that she goes back and forth to play with.<\/p>\n
This cube<\/a> was originally bought to encourage my daughter to learn how to sit as a baby. After finally putting in new batteries, she realized that this cube has songs such as Bingo. She’ll press the buttons and start dancing as the music comes on.<\/p>\n
It’s quite funny and cute!<\/p>\n
I’ve mentioned this ABC backpack<\/a> in a previous blog post as a way to encourage my toddler to learn her alphabets.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\nWhat I didn’t realize is that she also really enjoys the “It’s a parade” song. She’ll press the letters, learn them, and enjoys singing along at the same time.<\/p>\n
It is a win-win for everyone.<\/p>\n
I definitely recommend these two musical toys that my toddler enjoys playing with.<\/p>\n
8. Bath toys<\/span><\/h3>\n
Taking a bath is a form of water play for my toddler.<\/p>\n
She’ll gather all the things she needs and throw them into the inflatable duck she takes a bath in.<\/p>\n
Bath toys do not need to be expensive.<\/p>\n
Here is what she plays with:<\/p>\n
- \n
- Old baby bottles<\/li>\n
- Washcloth<\/li>\n
- Cups (similar one here)<\/li>\n
- Submarine toy ( similar one here)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Due to the limited space,\u00a0 she can only play with a limited number.<\/p>\n
We’ll have to transfer her to a bigger tub or just use the actual bathtub. She will have more space for toys.<\/p>\n
