As you can tell from the title, I am turning twenty eight this week. It’s so crazy as I definitely do not feel like I am in my late twenties. My birthday makes me remember how old I actually am. Haha. This would be a different post from my regular blog posts as I reflect on my blessings this past year.
I am so grateful for all the things I have experienced so far. I feel like this is going to be a long post so buckle up!

1. My husband
I am very grateful for M and could not ask for a better spouse. He does so much more than people know and even think a husband would do. I am blessed to have someone who will wake up in the middle of the night to attend to our crying baby. Also, he would volunteer to roll up his sleeves to wash the dishes. He probably does it better than I do. I am so grateful for him.
M is such a wonderful man who does not hesitate to help whenever he sees a need. Even when I am really stressed out by the baby, he would offer to take her out and give me some alone time. I am very thankful that he is capable to take care of Baby K without me by his side. Except during at night when she wants me for nursing.
I really thank God for M. Truly I am so blessed.
2. My daughter
I am also very thankful for Baby K. When she came into our lives, it seems like my perspective changed. I am more understanding of other people and their babies, and what survival mode with a baby truly is. With her, I have developed more patience, heightened sensitivity to sounds and movements, and also being careful of what I consume.
I am grateful that God blessed me with Baby K. Through her different milestones, I am constantly amazed by what she can do. I learned so much about the perseverance and curiosity of the human spirit. She also makes me laugh with her silliness. I love her so much.
3. My family
When I first had Baby K, my family and M’s family were really helpful in bringing meals and watching the baby.
As a new parent, it can be hard to ask for help so it’s really nice when others offer. Also, I am very thankful to have my family here with me. It’s nice to just chat about life and check in on each other.
We try to have weekly dinners and it’s good to be around family.
4. My blog
I am really excited to be able to share my life’s adventures with you, my blog readers. Sometimes, it can be tiring to try and type what is happening (especially with a baby) but it is totally worth it.
At this moment, I am travelling (I wrote this blog post a month or two in advance) and it is nice to be able to schedule things ahead of time.
I love to share what I have learned, my mistakes, and cool finds with you. Thank you so much for reading. I really appreciate you.
5. A house to live in
I am very thankful for my house. A roof over our heads.
We were looking to make sure that it is a good neighborhood and also a wonderful school area. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to decorate and sleep here every night.
6. The opportunity to visit different places
I am excited to be able to travel and visit different places. From going to places such as Disney, I am really blessed to be able to afford these trips. Also, I am very thankful for the free tickets to the Toronto Zoo. For more information about how to get that, please see this blog post here.
I am thankful for the opportunity to go and experience different cultures and their food.
7. My job
I am on maternity leave but will be going back to my job soon. It is with mixed feelings as I am excited for Baby K to go to school and learn new things with her new friends.
I am grateful that I have a job to go back to and also brush up on my skills. Unfortunately, I am not one of the moms who wants to stay home with their children all the time. I do enjoy going to work, I think. Ask me again when I start work and I might give you a different answer. Haha.
8. Good Health
I am thankful for good health, especially this birthday. The ability to go around and get up in the morning without worrying about my health is amazing. It is not something I take lightly.
With a healthy body, I can then take care of Baby K and also be the best mom that I can be.
9. Great friends and Mommy friends
I am grateful for friends and my Mommy friends. It’s so nice to be able to share life with others, especially those who are going through the same stages as you.
You can complain about how your baby does not sleep or celebrate how they stand up for the first time.
I am also thankful for the friends who are not moms as we can talk about other subjects besides baby. Maybe they have a new job or planning a wedding. Those things are fun to talk about too!
10. Weekends
I am thankful for weekends as M is home. It also means that we can go out and go to places by car.
We might do some grocery shopping or visit Home Depot for home-related items.
Sometimes, he would take Baby K out by himself so that I can blog. It is a mini vacation for me.
11. Internet to connect with others around the world
I am thankful for the internet. It is really nice to be able to blog, do research, and connect with friends and family around the world. I wonder what it would be like if we do not have internet.
When Baby K was younger, I would be holding her while she naps. I would then watch a lot of YouTube or Netflix videos until she wakes up. Without the internet, I think I would be bored out of my mind.
If you are on vacation, it would be easier to not be constantly connected to the internet. However, when you’re at home, what would you do?
Please let me know in the comments below. I would love some suggestions on what to do without the internet.
12. Formula
We realized that I did not have enough milk for Baby K. She would be fussy and seems to be hungry all the time. I am very thankful to be able to give formula to her.
After we gave Baby K formula, she was able to sleep a little longer. Also, M could feed her the formula and I can rest.
Whether you are an exclusively breast-fed mama or a formula-fed mama, we all do whatever we need to. As long as the baby is happy and well fed, that is all that matters.
13. Baby Carrier
I am very grateful for or Ergobaby Carrier. Baby K is getting heavier and my back can feel it. Also, it’s really nice to be hands-free to hold other things such as opening the door or her bottle.
Though I am twenty eight, I get tired too. Okay? I definitely feel like I need to work out and be more fit to carry her. The baby carrier really helps, especially when you’re travelling.
14. Food on the table
Not to be cheesy, but I am thankful for the food on the table.
There are so many different cultures represented here in Toronto and the food that comes with them are amazing. I am so happy to be able to choose, but it can also be a first world problem of the difficulty to choose.
I am also very thankful for the ability to somewhat cook for M and Baby K. I can’t say for my family for sure as I am not that good of a cook.
15. Safety
Along with the food on the table, I am thankful for safety. There are so many places in the world that are dangerous due to gun violence, protests, or even clashes between groups of people.
I am grateful to God this birthday for our safety. Of course, it is not 100% guaranteed that we are safe. But, I am grateful while we are.
16. Alone Time
On this birthday, I am grateful for alone time. When M takes Baby K out or when they are both asleep, I have some alone time. I usually use it to blog (like right now) or just relax and watch a video or two.
It is such a good thing for my mental health as a new mom.
If you can get some help from others to watch your baby for a while, try to get some alone time. It would make such a difference.
